Is the SSC CGL difficult to crack for the general category?

SSC CGL is an exam conducted by the autonomous body of the government department with some caste reservations in the posts notified therein. These reservations are subject to the marks obtained by them and the category they belong to. Let us say, in the year 2016, the one who got the job had scored 517/700 in general category. The qualifying cut-off for other categories was for ST it was 436/700, SC: 459/700 and for OBC: 504/700. This cut-off clearly shows that there is a huge difference between the general category cut off and other categories. This difference is more than 80 marks, it shows how beneficial is the reserved category class than general. Obviously they stand more chance than general category.

Reasons for the less chances of general category candidates to get SSC CGL 2018 posts are:
  1. The number of posts for general category is generally half of the total vacancies and rest of the 50 per cent belongs to the reserved categories. Competition is high for general as compared to other categories.
  2. There are only handful candidates for SC, ST and OBC and they have less competition with fewer marks. The reserved category candidates always stand a better chance with less marks and competition.
  3. The reserved category candidates also get the opportunity to take free classes organized by SSC for the training. It saves their time and they get to know the exam pattern and some hints free of cost where as general category has to spend money to get the training from private SSC COACHING IN KOLKATA or elsewhere.
  4. There is no examination fees for the reserved category which is also an added feature and gives them confidence and chance to appear in the exam without any hassle.
  5. There is no marginal relaxation given to the general category which makes it a tough game to choose between the exam preparation and fees.
All these factors makes the journey easy for the reserved category candidates over that of the general category aspirants.

Hope it opens the eyes of the government of India to do some justice to the general category and give them a sigh of relief.
